Current Year Budget and Action Plan 2017/18

Swillington Parish Council aims to give excellent value for money, we are here to serve our community in the most cost effective way as possible. We have robust and transparent systems of working for our finances. At our monthly parish meetings all in attendance are given a meeting pack of documents which include copies of the latest financial reconciliations . The Parish Clerk Diane Brown is also the Responsible Financial Officer and her responsibilities are determined by the Local Government Act 1972 section 151. If you have any queries regarding our finances please contact her. You will find her contact details on our contact us page.

Our main source of income comes from the Precept. The Precept is the council tax which Leeds City Council collects on behalf of the Parish Council. As with all Local Government agencies money is tight, we have completed some excellent projects in the last couple of years including the refurbishment of our Children's Playground and the clearing of allotment space on Swillington Lane. We have a lot of ideas to improve our Community but with limited funds we have to ensure that our funds are effectively spent. We start to look at our following year budget in December each year. This allows us to look ahead and have the time to discuss what we need to do and how we can afford it. Our discussions form part of our Annual Action Plan.

Each month we update our budget to reflect our actual spend, the spreadsheets which are presented to the parish council each month at the parish meeting are below. All expenditure is agreed at the parish meetings and the individual payments are noted on our minutes. Swillington Parish Council has four part time members of staff who are paid by bank transfer.

Below are comparisons of past years budgets and the current budget.
